Review: 8th Burghölzli Psychiatry Meeting

On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, the 8th Burghölzli Psychiatry Meeting (BPM) took place at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich (PUK). This annual event offers researchers from all four PUK clinics an important platform for scientific exchange and for presenting current projects.

This year, we had over 170 registered participants, featured 8 presentations by early-career researchers, 43 poster presentations, and an engaging keynote lecture by Prof. Indrit Bégue from the University of Geneva. In her talk, “Apathy in schizophrenia: Looking for answers in the cerebellum with neuroimaging and brain stimulation”, she provided fascinating insights into current approaches in functional imaging and non-invasive brain stimulation for investigating apathy and negative symptoms in schizophrenia. The programme also included a contribution by Dr. Anke Maatz on participatory research in psychiatry, as well as a complementary programme for experts by experience.

As part of the poster competition, three outstanding works were recognized with an award. We warmly congratulate this year’s winners:

  • Dr. Stephanie Homan (Postdoctoral researcher, Prof. B. Kleim’s group) (Poster (PDF, 1 MB))
  • Laura Weidmann, MSc (Doctoral researcher, PD Dr. T. Spiller’s group) (Poster (PDF, 1 MB))
  • Andrea Häfliger, MSc (Doctoral researcher, Prof. B. Kleim’s group) (Poster (PDF, 481 KB))

We thank all participants, presenters, and organizers for their valuable contributions to a successful BPM 2025.

Sincerely,

The Organization Committee
